Localism Bill awaits Royal Assent

The Localism Bill passed its final hurdle last night when the House of Commons voted to accept all the amendments made during its passage through the House of Lords. There were a number of attempts made either to reintroduce clauses removed (local referendums), or to add new clauses (definition of sustainable development) but none were successful.

The Bill now simply awaits Royal Assent, which could be as early as next week, before its various measures can start to be implemented.
